NMUN • Galápagos - San Cristóbal Island, Ecuador

NMUN • Galápagos was once again held in partnership with Universidad San Francisco de Quito. Their institute on San Cristóbal Island is located on its own beach adjacent to the national park. Delegates from colleges and universities from all over the world focused on pressing global issues at this once-in-a-lifetime educational opportunity. Our simulation of the United Nations addressed pressing global environmental issues. Delegates wrestled with the environmental challenges facing our planet and developed the skills needed to make a difference. Outside conference sessions, service learning opportunities were provided in one of the original twelve UNESCO World Heritage Sites, Galápagos Islands National Park. Educational explorations were conducted both on land and in the water. Sea lions, giant tortoises, sea turtles, sharks, Sally Lightfoot crabs, iguanas, Darwin's finches, blue-footed boobies, frigate birds, and other birds and wildlife were plentiful.
