Hotel / Tour Package (mandatory)

$1,900 USD per person; Ecuadorians pay $1,600 USD due to lower park fees; Quito residents, not staying at the Quito hotel, pay $1,400 USD.
(This price is valid until 15 July, anyone who has failed to pay the 50% deposit, may have to pay a higher rate due to airline costs.)  

This package covers numerous items including, airfare between Quito and Galápagos (there is a short stop at Guayaquil airport, we remain on the plane), two nights of hotel in Quito, seven nights of hotel on San Cristóbal Island in Galápagos, most breakfasts and lunches, two dinners, park entry fee, tourist card, study tours, service projects, and more. In addition to committee sessions, the package includes the opportunity to:

  • Participate in service learning opportunities in Galápagos National Park.
  • Explore the Galápagos Islands, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
  • Straddle the Northern and Southern Hemispheres on the equator at Mitad del Mundo (Middle of the World) and Museo Intiñan.
  • Discover Galapaguera de Cerro Colorado, dedicated to the conservation of giant tortoises and their babies.
  • Cruise to Kicker Rock to snorkel with and learn about sharks, large rays, tropical fish, sea turtles, sea lions, and many other unique species.
  • Soak up the island's natural beauty on its beaches, including Puerto Chino, a white sand swimming beach.
  • Experience the lush highlands at El Junco lagoon.
  • Interact with the locals (both humans and sea lions) along the waterfront's Malecón.

Meals

Breakfast: included at hotels (on the Sundays due to the early flights, Group 1 will need to purchase their own breakfast at the airport)

Lunch: included (except both Sundays)

Dinners: welcome dinner at USFQ campus after Opening Ceremony and Thursday U.S. Thanksgiving dinner are included; all other dinners are on your own

Other Costs to Consider

  • Travel to and from Quito, Ecuador
  • Airport Ground Transportation
    - free hotel shuttle bus to / from the Quito airport
    - bus fare to / from San Cristóbal Airport is included
  • Ground Transportation on San Cristóbal Island (hotels to campus is walkable, transportation for tours is covered)
  • Insurance - Health, Travel, Conference / Trip Cancellation, Emergency Evacuation, etc.
  • Passport - make sure the expiration date is at least six months after the conference dates
  • Meals - the Sunday breakfasts/lunches and all but two dinners are on your own
  • Visa (if needed)
  • Sightseeing and Souvenirs
